Greeting- 2 minutes
Teacher to Students- Listen & Repeat (some or all)
Hello, Hi, Hey, Howdy, G’day, Good Morning, Hola, Aloha, Bon Jour, Bon Dia, Bon Journo, Ni Hao, Konnichiwa, Anyohaseyo, Sambaino, Kiola, Selamat Pagi (am) (pm-Siang), Shalom, Jambo, Asalamalekum, Zzdrastvet-yah, Namaste.

Janken 4’s- Warm-Up/Review/Conversation Skills Practice- 5 minutes
Blackboard

  • W) I have a blue cap.
  • L1) I have a blue cap, too.
  • L2) I don’t have a blue cap. I have a green cap.
ALT/HRT: Janken and do the conversation first together, then with a few
students to practice/demonstrate.
Students: Each student Janken and Converse with 3 others in groups of 4

CLOTHES Song- to tune and similar movements of
                        Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes- 5 minutes
Materials- Flashcards for the clothes in the song
Blackboard-
  • Cap, T-shirt, Pants and Shoes.
  • Sweater, Skirt, Shorts and Socks.
ALT- Lead song and movement.
Students- Sing and move with the song.

Listen, Point and Repeat- Colors review
Materials- Text, page 30-31, 33
ALT- Listen and Repeat color names from blackboard. Then, with texts open, call out paired words: Page 30-31: red shoes, pink shoes, orange bag, yellow bag, red t-shirt, blue pants, white pants, pink kimono, blue skirt, white shoes, pink dress, brown bag, ... Page 33: yellow t-shirt, blue shoes, yellow socks, yellow bag, pink skirt, blue cap, black pants, black apron, yellow shoes, white socks, green skirt, ....
Students- Listen, Point and Repeat after ALT in text, page 30-31, 33


CHANT- Do you have a red cap?- 5 minutes
Materials: dice (1)

  • (dice #2,4,6)-No, I don’t. clap-clap I don’t have a red cap. clap-clap-clap
Activity- finish coloring and cutting out clothes- if needed
Materials- text, pages 65-66

Activity- Shopping- 20-25 minutes
Blackboard-
  • A) Do you have a red cap?
  • B1) No, I don't. (B asks a new question.)
  • B2) Yes, I do. Here you are.
  • A) Thank you.
  • B) You’re welcome. Good bye.
  • A) Good bye.
Materials- Each student’s colored clothes cards
HRT/ALT- Listen and Repeat the dialog, then demonstrate activity. Next, ask students to explain in Japanese (to check understanding).
Students- First, ODD numbered students are SHOPKEEPERS, EVEN numbered students are SHOPPERS. Shopkeepers lay out your colored clothes cards on your desks. Shoppers go to a store and GET 1 CARD. When students 'buy' 5 cards, a full set of clothes, they sit down.
Next, odd and even number students change roles. Students keep the clothes they bought for Show and Tell in the next class.
ROUND 2- Girls shop first, then boys.

Wrap-Up-3 minutes
Discuss interchangability of verbs in the target pattern. For example, 'Do you LIKE pink?', 'Do you EAT sushi?', 'Do you WATCH Doraemon?'. Ask students to raise hands for Yes or No answers, then repeat A + 1 Answer pattern- 'Yes, I do. I watch Doraemon.'/ 'No, I don't. I don't watch Doraemon.'

Closing- 1 minute
Students: ‘Thank you! Good bye!’
Teachers: ‘You’re welcome! Good bye!’
