Eigo Note Lesson 5-8-2

Greeting- 2 minutes
Teacher to Students- Listen & Repeat (some or all)
Hello, Hi, Hey, Howdy, G’day, Good Morning, Hola, Aloha, Bon Jour, Bon Dia, Bon Journo, Ni Hao, Konnichiwa, Anyohaseyo, Sambaino, Kiola, Selamat Pagi (am) (pm-Siang), Shalom, Jambo, Asalamalekum, Zzdrastvet-yah, Namaste.

Review- Subject names- 5 minutes
HRT- Ask ALT ‘What’s this subject?’, pointing to a flashcard or in the workbook.
ALT- Act out subjects with gestures.  (music, PE, art, social studies, science, math, Japanese, English, homemaking). Write the subject name on the blackboard (or post flashcard) after students guess it. Listen and Repeat subject names with students.

Listen, Repeat and Point- 3 minutes
EigoNoto- pg. 74
ALT- Call out subject names- round 1, in order; round 2, in mixed order.
Students- Repeat after ALT and point to subject cards in workbook.

Song- The Seven Days- 4 minutes
Blackboard- Sunday, Monday... Friday, Saturday.
CD- track 57
ALT- Lead singing. Repeat several times.
Students- Sing along.

Janken 4’s- Warm-Up/Review/Conversation Skills Practice- 5 minutes
ALT/HRT: Janken and do the conversation first together, then with the class to practice/demonstrate.
Students: Each student Janken and Converse with 3 others in groups of 4
Blackboard:   
W)Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
L)Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Hot Potato- 6 minutes
Materials- timer
Students- in groups of 4. Make a new sentene 1-by-1, substituting for the italicized parts, then pass a pen case to the next student.
Blackboard-
1- I study English on Friday.
2- I study English on Friday.
3- I study English on Friday.
ALT- Introduce and demonstrate the activity, then keep time for each round. Time is about 1 minute per round.

Clue Bingo- 15 minutes
Materials- Dice; Clue Bingo print; cut out subject cards (20) from page 74.
Students- Place 20 subject cards onto blank Clue Bingo print. RULE- Cannot put the same subject twice on the same day. PLAY- turn over a card when it is called. Make a sentence when chosen by dice.
ALT- Intro activity. When students are ready, call out random sentences, ie., I study English on Friday. After several turns, roll dice to choose students by seat location. Chosen student makes a sentence when chosen by dice.

Wrap-Up- 3 minutes
(Present common mistakes to the whole class. Write the mistaken point on the blackboard, and ask if anybody can see the mistake.) Or-
HRT to Students, in Japanese:
-What did we talk about today? 
-Were there some words you already knew?
-Did you learn any new words?
-What was fun or interesting?
-What was difficult?
-How can we make that easier next time?

Closing- 1 minute
Students: ‘Thank you! Good bye!’
Teachers: ‘You’re welcome! Good bye!’
